A Note from the CIDC President:

CIDC Members and Supporters,

I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your patience with the House Local Government Committee hearing date. If you’ve been keeping up with our e-blasts, you’ll notice our hearing dates have been rescheduled a few times. Rest assured, we have been working diligently with our lobbyists on SB-120, and this is just part of the legislative process! Establishing the hearing date is beyond our control, but we can still be working hard on making the phone calls and sending emails to the legislators on the committee. You can find more information on this below.

We have tentatively been rescheduled again for April 18th at 9:30am, the hearing room is TBD. Please continue to show your support, and make your phone calls to the House Local Government committee. I also encourage your attendance at the capitol for the actual hearing. It is very interesting to watch the process, how a bill becomes a law, and your attendance is welcomed at the committee hearing. Please continue to watch your emails for updates and announcements, we also encourage you find us on Facebook, where we’ll also be keeping you updated with information. As always, the CIDC Board of Directors is available should you have any questions!

With sincere thanks for all your help and support,

Katie Cavallo, IIDA

Here’s what you can do to help CIDC:Please call the Representatives in this committee and ask for support on SB-120. As a reminder, the intent of SB-120 is to clarify the existing law to make the statute easier to use, and to assist small business. This is to be accomplished by placing the existing directive within the appropriate state statues concerning county and municipal building codes. CIDC wants to continue to see designers enabled to use the statute without the existing confusion and red tape.

You can the sample language below when you call, you can leave a message or speak directly to the Representative or one of their aides.

“My name is _________ and I am an interior designer (student, industry partner, etc.). I am also a voter. I have called to ask for your support of SB-120, which seeks to clarify an existing statute pertaining to an interior designer’s ability to file documents with the building department.  It is an important piece of legislation for the industry and for small business.”

You can use the Bill-Fact-Sheet for additional talking points.

Please take a few moments to call today and help show your support for theCIDC and this legislation.
